Where we are up to
Wirkara Kulpa has been developed in partnership with the Aboriginal Justice Caucus in line with the principles of self-determination enshrined in Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja. The Minister for Youth Justice, launched Wirkara Kulpa – Information for Aboriginal children and young people on 2 June 2022 at an event for Aboriginal children and young people involved with Youth Justice.
The Youth Collaborative Working Group (YCWG) of the Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF) is the oversight mechanism for implementation of Wirkara Kulpa and provides progress reports to the Aboriginal Justice Caucus and AJF on a regular basis.
The Wirkara Kulpa Design Reference Group, established to lead the design of work for Wikara Kulpa, comprises members of the YCWG and Community Based Aboriginal Youth Justice Workers and Aboriginal Liaison Officers (ALOs).
The Reference Group is now overseeing development of a suite of Wirkara Kulpa collaterals and design materials including uniforms for our Aboriginal staff, under the guidance of Dixon Patten, the lead designer and artist of Wirkara Kulpa.
The Reference Group will also oversee the development of a stronger online presence for Wirkara Kulpa including a new website which is currently at the stage of concept development.
