Where we are up to

Sheriff's Aboriginal Liaison Officers (SALOs) continue to assist the Aboriginal community with their fines and warrants, online and where possible, face to face.

During this reporting period, SALOs gradually increased their community-based activities and interactions. For example, they attended all known community events, forums and activities and continue to focus on improving outcomes for the Aboriginal community with fines and warrants.

In August 2022, Fines and Enforcement Services sought feedback and endorsement from the Aboriginal Justice Caucus to implement a dedicated Aboriginal support hotline.

The Sheriff's Office of Victoria intends to present the Aboriginal support hotline to the Aboriginal Consultative Committee for feedback and endorsement, pending the allocation of a date with the Aboriginal Consultative Committee.
