Where we are up to

Wadamba provides Aboriginal young people aged 18-35 on remand at Dame Phyllis Frost and Melbourne Remand Centre with pre and post release employment support.

Whilst the pandemic has impacted delivery of the pilot program throughout 2020, funding has been awarded over two years under the 2021-22 state budget to continue delivery of services for young Aboriginal adults on remand and allow for a formal program evaluation.

Procurement activity was finalised in June 2021 to extend contracted services with Wan Yaari until 30 June 2023. This could provide better opportunities when returning to Country.
